MODEL SESSIONS
These model training sessions are intended to illustrate techniques
and concepts described in the Guidelines
for Developing a Training Program, which introduce advocates
to a methodology for conducting training for the general public
as well as individuals and organizations involved in addressing
violence against women. It is recommended that advocates first
familiarize themselves with these Guidelines, which provide the
necessary background information for understanding the sample
training materials included on this site, which address the issues
of domestic violence,
sexual assault, sexual harassment and trafficking
in women.
The model sessions below provide an example of the structure
of a training program, using the topic of gender-based violence.
These model sessions can therefore be used by advocates to gain
an understanding of the components of a training course, to increase
the facilitator’s understanding of gender-based violence
or as introductory sessions to training programs on issues such
as domestic violence and trafficking in women.
The model sessions in the Problem Identification block and the
Researching the Problem block are general and could be used with
various groups as an awareness-raising tool. The sessions in the
Addressing the Problem block are intended for specific target
audiences and introduce concrete tasks or intended outcomes.
The model sessions listed here are intended to illustrate the
many training exercises that could be carried out in a training
program on gender-based violence and are not meant to be exhaustive.
