The Women's Leadership Institute is now accepting applications for the 2008-09 program. The Women's Leadership Institute offers University women monthly meetings, held from September to June, which include guest speakers, reflection, networking, and group discussion. WLI offers participants a chance to cultivate leadership skills within a community of mutual learning and support. Eligibility criteria are: 1) Current employee of the University of Minnesota; 2) At least two years of work experience at the University; 3) Ability to demonstrate leadership in their current position and explain how they would like to develop; and 4) Completed application, including a letter of recommendation, is submitted by the due date. The Split Rock Arts Program is the University of Minnesota's summer series of workshops in creative writing, visual art, and design. Held on the Twin Cities' campus and at the University's Cloquet Forestry Center in northern Minnesota, the 25-year-old program is a popular destination because of its promise of intensive study with outstanding artists and writers from around the world. No prerequisites. Graduate/undergraduate credit and scholarships are available. University faculty and staff can take Split Rock workshops at substantially reduced tuition rates through Regents Scholarships. Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) is a Twin Cities networking group for women scientific professionals and graduate students. Join GWIS Thursday, May 15th, 5:30-8:00 pm for dinner and a presentation by Dean Gail Dubrow of the University of Minnesota graduate school at the Campus Club, Coffman Memorial Union. Dean Dubrow will speak on the changing landscape of graduate education in this country, the emerging field of interdisciplinary work, and the convergence of the two at the University of Minnesota. The AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program is seeking full and part-time domestic and sexual violence AmeriCorps member advocates.
