Welcome!

The Women’s Center serves as a catalyst for the University to achieve equity for women.

A unit of the Office for Equity and Diversity, the Women’s Center primarily supports University students, staff, faculty, but also alumni and community members. Toward that end, the Women’s Center connects individuals and organizations with resources, offers leadership development and educational programs, and advocates for systemic policy, structure and climate change.

Our signature events, resources, awards, and advocacy work are recognized for their excellence and focus on helping women succeed. We invite your participation and wish you the best!

Rachel Raimist

Rachel Raimist, PhD candidate in Feminist Studies, was recognized for her considerable commitment as a volunteer on behalf of the Department of Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies (GWSS), women on the University campus, and women and girls in the Twin Cities community. Rachel is a pioneer, conceiving and implementing the Feminist Media Center (FMC); The FMC, along with the GWSS community weblog that she created, reflect her belief that “cyber-feminist praxis and pedagogy can be radically transformative.”

Kelly Cannon, PhD candidate in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), was recognized for her outstanding outreach to women and members of underrepresented groups. She founded the Kids Technology Day Camp, geared at exposing middle school age children to a collegiate atmosphere and encouraging young people – girls in particular – to become interested in pursuing computer science and technological careers. Through the Camp, Kelly has not only been successful in her inspiring women and youth, but also in urging her fellow graduate students to become more involved in outreach efforts. Kelly Cannon
