Minnesota is a state that emphasizes education. We have the fourth highest graduation rate in the nation. Minnesota's public school open enrollment program allows elementary and secondary students to enroll in a public school district other than the district where the student lives. Minnesota students have greater access to computers than do students in 45 other states.
The state also ranks highly in other measures of educational success:. Minnesota's average ACT score of its college bound high school students ranked first nationally in 2010.

There also is a wide range of private school options. In addition to a number of extremely fine parochial schools, following is a sampling of private schools in the metro area:
Lake Country School (Montessori)
St. Paul Academy and Summit School
Child care options for younger children are plentiful. The University of Minnesota’s own Child Care Center cares for 140 children, ages 3 months to pre-kindergarten.

In 2010, Minnesota had the highest average ACT in the country, 22.9, among states where the majority of graduates took the ACT.
