Note: in most cases, you will need to install a patch before performing these steps.
Click the "Start" menu, and select the "Control Panel."
Double click "Network Connections."
Click "Wireless Network Connection," and then click "Change settings of this connection" (under "Network Tasks").
Click the "Wireless Networks" tab.
If "UofM Secure" displays in the "Preferred Networks" window, select it and then select "Properties."
Note: If "UofM Secure" does not display in the "Preferred Networks" window, click the "Add..." button, and enter "UofM Secure" in the "Network Name (SSID)" field.
Select "WPA2" on the "Network Authentication" drop-down menu.
Note: If "WPA2" is not listed, you need to install a patch.
Select "AES" on the "Data encryption" drop-down menu.
Select "Protected EAP (PEAP)" on the "EAP type" drop-down menu.
Ensure that the "Validate server certificate" box is checked.
Click "OK" in the "Protected EAP Properties" window.
Click "OK" in the "Wireless Network Properties" window.
Click "OK" in the "Wireless Network Connection" window.
The first time you attempt to connect to the "UofM Secure" newtork, an icon displays in the bottom right corner of your screen, prompting you to "select a certificate or other credentials for connection to the network UofM Secure."
Click the icon.
Enter your U of M Internet ID (X500) and password.
Leave the domain field blank.
