The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is committed to the goal of maintaining a common, secure wireless experience for all users on the Twin Cities and Rochester campuses as well as Extension Services sites around the state.
UofM Wireless service is free for the University community. University students, faculty, and staff can use their University Internet IDs (X500) and passwords to access the wireless network. If you are not currently a member of the University community but need temporary access to our network, guest access is available.
Wireless technologies are based on the transmission of radio frequencies (RF) between a wireless networking card (wireless NIC) and a wireless Access Point (AP). These radio signals are not immune to interference from other electrical devices and may not penetrate some substances well enough to deliver a usable signal. Because of these conditions, available bandwidth and reception distances vary.
