Periwinkle

periwinklePeriwinkle is perfect wherever an evergreen ground cover is needed in shady sites, such as under large trees or shrubs. Flowers are a brilliant sky blue with attractive glossy green leaves. Other cultivars have shades of violet, purple, or pure white. They are native to Europe, North America and central Asia.

Planting
It is slow to germinate from seeds. Purchase transplants. Compost and fertilize soil. Periwinkle tolerate a broad range of soil types. Periwinkle self-propagate by developing new plants from buds in the leaf axils.

Tips
The plants need little care. They naturally spread to form a thick mat of foliage. They will grow in full sun and moist soil.
