Photo of the University Student Legal Service entrance.Founded by students at the University of Minnesota in 1976, University Student Legal Service (USLS) provides legal representation and legal advice to eligible students on the Twin Cities campus. USLS operates as a department of the Office for Student Affairs and is governed by its own Board of Directors.

The USLS legal staff members are professionals experienced in the areas of law important to students and sensitive to the special needs of student clients. The staff consists of a director, five staff attorneys, 2 legal assistants, law clerks, and support staff.

USLS is funded fully by the Student services fee.
