V. CAMPUS REPORTS

Deanne Nordberg, Student Senate Vice Chair from Morris, reported that elections have been completed and Gary Hedin will continue as the Student Body President.

Kelli Rusch, SSCC member from UMC, stated that their elections have also been completed. Shon Naslund was elected president and she was elected vice president. Kerstin Trimble will serve as the SSCC representative.

Tina Wille, a Duluth senator, said that this was finals week.

Cheryl Jorgensen, GAPSA President, introduced Ben Solomon as the newly-elected GAPSA president. Ben then reported that the results of the recent collective bargaining election were not in favor of a graduate student union. 75% of graduate students did vote in this election.

Jesse Berglund reported that Ben Bowman was elected as the new MSA President.

VI. STUDENT LEGISLATIVE COALITION UPDATE

Cheryl Jorgensen reported that the capital has finished its business. The University did not receive all that it requested and no reason was given for this. $198.8 was requested and $103.9 was received. The item to be hit the hardest was the undergraduate initiative, which included freshmen seminars.

The AHC did receive an endowment for medical education which would provide $8 million per year in recurring funds. It is not all that the AHC needs, but it is a start.

The Senate and House decided to support lowering the student share of financial aid to 46%. This helps many students, but it helps private college students more proportionally than public college students. $3 million was also added for work study.

She then said that she has graduated, so she is no longer the SLC president. She introduced Suzanne Drennon as the newly-elected president.

VII. OLD BUSINESS

A Morris senator asked that Darwin Hendel be asked about the progress of student evaluations of teaching at Morris.

VIII. NEW BUSINESS
