STUDENT SENATE CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE (SSCC)
MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 22, 2005

views of, nor are they binding on, the Senate the Administration, or the Board
of Regents.]
PRESENT: Josh Breyfogle (chair), Nicolas Allyn,
Anthony Kouba, William Kusch, Rick Orr, Timothy Tangen, Dion Turgeon, Jared
Warren.
1. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS
Josh Breyfogle
welcomed all members to the meeting and members introduced
themselves.
2. CHAIR’S REPORT
Josh Breyfogle asked
that members email him any ideas they have for this year so a formal plan can be
made.
3. 2005-06 AGENDA ITEMS
Committee members had the
following potential agenda items for 2005-06:
- Student involvement on the strategic planning task forces; where are
students serving? where else is student input needed? how can the Student Senate
best work in the system?
- Coordinate campus students serving on their task forces
- Housing for graduate and professional students, married students, and
students with children; making it more accessible and creating a system-wide
housing policy
- Student evaluation questions and the possibility that the release be
mandatory
- Work with campus governments and offer more Student Senate support; learn
more about what each campus is working on
- All-University student governance conference, possibly held at a coordinate
campus
- Travel to the coordinate campuses to attend student association meetings;
Crookston, Monday, 8pm; Duluth, Monday, 5 pm; Morris, Monday, 6 pm, GAPSA, Third
Wednesday, 6 pm; MSA, Tuesdays, 3:30 pm
- Improving transfer student process for students within University
system
- Encouraging students who do not get accepted to the Twin Cities to apply to
the coordinate campuses
- Working with FCC regarding their positions on each of the Strategic Planning
task forces or requesting seats for students, civil service, and academic
professionals
4. APPROVAL OF SSCC MEMBERS APPOINTED TO
SCC
Rick Orr and Nicolas Allyn were elected as the two Twin Cities
undergraduate representatives from SSCC to SCC.
5. OTHER
BUSINESS
A member noted that he would like to pressure senators to
attend both Student Senate and University Senate meetings.
With no
further business, Josh Breyfogle thanked all members for attending and adjourned
the meeting.
