Order of Proceedings

 

 

1.              Call to order by the Chairperson.

2.              Announcements and opening remarks by the Chairperson, including such items as:

a.     Identification of the parties attending the hearing

b.     Admissions of fact reached in any pre-hearing conferences between the parties involved

c.     Proceedings of the hearing are confidential

3.              Witnesses are asked to leave the hearing room until recalled by the Chairperson.

4.              The Athletic Department will present a short statement regarding their position.

5.              The student-athlete will present a short statement concerning the nature of the request.

6.              The Athletic Department presents information and witnesses.

a.     Questions of witnesses by student-athlete and/or representative.

b.     Questions of witnesses by hearing panel.

7.              The student-athlete presents information and witnesses.

a.     Questions of witnesses by Athletic Department and/or representative.

b.     Questions of witnesses by hearing panel.

8.              A witness may be recalled by the Chairperson to speak on specific issues at the request of either party or at the request of a member of the committee.

9.              Closing statements by:

a.     Athletic Department

b.     Student-athlete

10.           Hearing is closed by the Chairperson.

11.           Hearing panel retires to deliberate (closed meeting).

12.           Written decision of hearing panel rendered.

 

The hearing panelÕs determination will be reported in writing to the parties by the Chairperson.
