AHCF&P

March 3, 2008

Minutes of the Meeting

Present: Paul Olin, chair, Beth Nunnally, and Tim Walseth

Absent: Yusef Abul-Hajj, Greg Beilman, Tim Church, Helen Hansen, and David Lee

In These Minutes: {Review of Practice Plan Principles language, Discussion regarding EFS implementation, Update on Senate Finance and Planning business}

Professor Olin began by saying he has met twice with Keith Dunder, General Council, Academic Health Center, to discuss revisions to the Practice Plan Principles document written by the AHCF&P in 2006-2007.   They reviewed the specific language under discussion in the introduction, clinical, educational, and ingredient sections of the document.  The committee discussed the faculty role and the language that would appropriately represent that role, as it relates in the implementation of the practice plan principles.  Professor Olin said he would further discuss this point with Mr. Dunder and then bring the document back to the committee members for approval, before sending it forward to Senior Vice President Cerra.

The committee members then discussed concerns regarding the implementation of the Enterprise Financial System (EFS).  Beth Nunnally said that she and some of her colleagues within the AHC have been working to identify and address areas of concern related to the EFS rollout.  She noted that student and employee data currently housed in the CUFS system will remain as a backup to the newly populated EFS after the July 1st rollout date.  Other measures are being taken to ease the transition between the old and new systems.

Professor Olin then provided an update from the Senate Finance and Planning Committee.

¤      The committee is reviewing language related to graduate student salary plans.  Merit

     based salary evaluations were introduced for students sometime in 2006.  Professor Olin   said he would like to discuss this in more detail at an upcoming meeting.

¤      The Light Rail Transit (LRT) proposal will be voted on by the legislature within the next two weeks. The UniversityÕs study of a route that would connect to the Minneapolis campus along its northern border, and utilize an already existing set of rail tracks, will not be completed until after the legislative vote is taken.  The University believes there is a real possibility the study would be taken under consideration once it is finished, even after the initial vote.  The model to build the LRT track along Washington Avenue at a sub-grade level was eliminated because it put the cost of the project above the project above the eligibility limit for matching funding from the federal government.

Hearing no further business Professor Olin adjourned the meeting.
