Mark Cassutt Mark Cassutt began his career at the University News Service in April 2005 as a public relations representative. He now works as the associate director and is responsible for advancing the communications efforts of selected colleges and programs; improving the News Service’s reputation for professionalism, customer service and results; developing and pitching news stories; handling issues and crisis communications related to assigned colleges and programs; and advancing and implementing the president’s strategic positioning initiatives. Prior to joining the News Service, Cassutt was the manager of communications for Jostens for seven years, where he was responsible for all internal communications to an employee base of 6,200 and 1,000-member independent sales force. He also managed crisis communications and media and public relations strategies and activities, as well as provided counsel to senior management. Before Jostens, Cassutt worked as an account executive for The Tunheim Group, a Minneapolis-based national public relations and communications firm. From 1988 to 1994, Cassutt worked in Los Angeles as an independent writer/producer for a variety of marketing and entertainment media, including: network television, cable, syndication, interactive, infomercials, corporate sales tapes and promotions. He was a writer for TV Guide magazine from 1984 to 1988 and is an emeritus member of the Writers’ Guild of America, West. Cassutt earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville. He lives in Minneapolis with his wife, Donna, and three sons, Zack, Elliot and Ethan.
