MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL ( 10/9/2007 ) -- A reception to recognize law professors Fionnuala Ni Aolain and Oren Gross as the recipients of the 2007 Certificate of Merit by the American Society of International Law for their book "Law in Times of Crisis" will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Dean's Conference Room (385) at the University of Minnesota Law School, 229 19th Ave. S., Minneapolis.

Published by Cambridge University Press, the book presents a dynamic, systematic and comprehensive effort to understand the theory of emergency powers through the examination of post-September 11th events in combination with broader comparative, historical and theoretical perspectives.

Ni Aolain is the Dorsey and Whitney Chair in Law at the University of Minnesota Law School. She also serves as a Professor of Law at the University of Ulster's Transitional Justice Institute in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She specializes in the fields of emergency powers, conflict regulation, and sex-based violence in times of war.
