“The first kid that I’d like to announce is Xzavian Brandon.

Gopher head football coach Tim Brewster announced a stellar recruiting class on the 2008 National signing day …a clear sign of the progress he’s making with the football team.

At the same time, the University of Minnesota released a virtual tour of TCF Bank Stadium …a facility that will no doubt help Brewster on future signing days.

“This tour and this stadium is, again, going to go a long way in helping us keep the Minnesota kids at home.”

The virtual tour, which can be found on Gophersports.com, gives maroon-and-gold fans the best look yet at TCF Bank Stadium, on schedule to open September 12, 2009.

“You’ll see an exterior fly-around, you’ll see the locker room, the band room and all of our premium spaces. The lobby, DQ Club Room …”

“You don’t need a lot of creativity to envision what this is going to look like on gameday ..”

You won’t have to wait until gameday to get a sneak peak of what the new stadium will look like, in person.

The steel structure of TCF Bank is already rising …and in a few short months, Athletics Director Joel Maturi says the stadium’s exterior will be a clear fixture on the new campus skyline.

“By the beginning of April, they’ll be putting brick on TCF Bank stadium, by next November, the stadium will be enclosed, you’ll be able to see it.”

Financially, there is still work to be done.

“We’ve raised $75 million of the $86 million goal to this point.” we’re confident that we can raise the remaining dollars that are left.”

And Gopher fans can be confident, that starting in September 2009, they’ll have one of the best place to watch college football in the country.

For the University of Minnesota, I’m Justin Ware.
