News Service (Media Relations)
The University News Service identifies the people and the work that make the University special, and communicates that information through the media and other venues.
What we do
- Publicize stories about University faculty, staff, and student accomplishments and institutional priorities.
- Provide public relations support and counsel to colleges and units, including developing communications plans and messages.
- Help reporters find faculty sources to comment on news ranging from the latest economic forecast to the death of a literary giant.
- Provide news story content through the U of M Moment radio vignette, the U of M Newswire, and video production.
- Write and distribute press releases on behalf of the administration and collegiate and departmental units.
- Conduct media coaching sessions for faculty, staff, and students.
