Internal Communications
The department of Internal Communications is a new function in University Relations, created to develop new University-wide strategies to advance the University’s transformative process. The department’s priorities are to effectively communicate with internal audiences about high visibility issues and strategic priorities, improve coordination of communications with college and unit communicators, and to address culture change within the University.
What we do:
- Develop and implement internal communications strategies for key University initiatives.
- Create and coordinate an internal communications program that effectively keeps all constituencies informed about key initiatives and builds support for the University’s mission.
- Build productive partnerships with a wide variety of University decision-making bodies and communications professionals in order to coordinate and improve the effectiveness of internal communications and culture change at the University.
- Proactively create opportunities to increase the University’s communication community’s understanding of an effective internal communications strategy, create agreement among constituents about procedures and goals related to the plan, and facilitate processes in support of it.
- Act as an internal communications expert, advising a broad range of internal constituents including administration, faculty and staff, on the most effective and efficient methods of achieving their communications goals.
- Develop key messages, themes and talking points for University leadership, grassroots network and others.
