The University makes a request to the Minnesota Legislature and the Governor every odd-numbered year. The capital budget includes funding for land acquisition, repair, renovation and construction of facilities and other basic infrastructure need of the University.
Historically, major capital budget bills have been passed in even-numbered years and are in excess of $1 billion. Typically, the University recieves 10 - 15 percent of the total bill.
A major capital bill was adopted in 2008. The next major capital bill is expected to be adopted in 2010.
