eCommunications: Enterprise Mass E-mail.

eCommunications

The University of Minnesota eCommunications system currently includes Lyris ListManager ('Lyris'), the University's mass e-mail distribution system. The eCommunications group is dedicated to the support and advancement of Lyris as an internal and external communication tool for University units. Lyris operates according to the eCommunications organizational model.

To begin using Lyris, talk to your college or unit's Lyris contact (often someone in a central communications or web group). If you're not sure who your contacts are, e-mail us. If your unit doesn't already use Lyris, learn how to get started.

Mass E-mail User Group page

For nearly a year, the Mass E-mail User Group (MEUG) has been meeting to discuss and share topics of interest related to mass e-mail. You can find more information on the Mass E-mail User Group pages.

Mass e-mail discussion

If you'd like to discuss mass e-mail at the University, a list is available. This list is intended to serve the communications, technical and design staff who have a role in mass e-mail. To join, send an e-mail to listserv@lists.umn.edu with "subscribe ecomm-email-talk" as the body of the message to subscribe, or visit the LISTSERV Web site. Note that this list also serves as a backup channel for communications to Lyris users in the event of an outage.

Lyris unavailable Oct. 24-25

Due to a planned systems outage, Lyris will be unavailable for portions of October 24 and 25. This will affect recipients of messages with tracked links. See the blog post for additional information.

Opt-out links

There have been multiple failures to include working opt-out links in GEL mailings in recent weeks. Additional information on how to verify opt-out links for GEL mailings has been posted. Message senders have a legal obligation to include valid opt-out URLs in certain communications, which include all messages sent using data from the University of Minnesota Foundation.
