U student wins medal for bravery

A rare display of courage, heroism, and selfless action following the collapse of the I-35W bridge has earned Nate Lund the Soldier's Medal, one of the highest honors bestowed by the Army. The award was presented recently during a special ceremony at the University of Minnesota.


U names 2008 McKnights

The University has chosen 13 McKnight Land-Grant Professors and four Distinguished McKnight University Professors for 2008. The Distinguished McKnight award rewards mid-career faculty of note like Judith Berman, and the McKnight Land-Grant award supports promising junior faculty such as Katsumi Matsumoto (pictured).

A threat to Minnesota fish

The University is lending a hand to help stop a lethal fish virus that is capable of producing massive fish kills in some of Minnesota anglers' favorite game and eating fish including walleye, muskie, perch, sunfish, crappie, and smallmouth and largemouth bass.
