Rochester will be the site of the next Civil Service Committee (CSC) meeting, October 28.

Once a year, the CSC meets on a University campus outside the Twin Cities. The University of Minnesota, Rochester (UMR), shares a campus with two other schools--the Rochester Community and Technical College and the Winona State University-Rochester Center--all housed within the University Center Rochester. The center is located on the southeast edge of Rochester.

The meeting will start at 9 a.m. with a welcome from provost David Carl. The group will tour the facilities, resume regular committee business, and adjourn at noon.

Agenda items this month will include officer and subcommittee reports. The full agenda will be posted on the Web about a week before the meeting at http://www.umn.edu/csc.

Apply for CSC professional development funds

The CSC maintains a fund to provide for professional development activities undertaken by civil service employees. Since the beginning of this fiscal year, 14 applications for professional development funds from CSC have been received. Eight awards for a total of $610 have been approved.

Applications are accepted on a continuing basis. They must be received by the 15th of each month for consideration at the monthly meeting, and at least four weeks before the date of a seminar or course. See the guidelines and applications at http://www.umn.edu/csc/request.html.
