How To Connect 10.5.x Macintosh Clients --Legacy application; see local Tech Support. This process expires December 2009.
Obtain the client
- Browse to the Downloads page and click on 10.5 Macintosh File Services Connection Tool to download.
- Double click on the downloaded KerberosConfigTool105.zip file.
- Verify Internet connectivity and that your system time is correct, then launch the extracted installer. Kerberos Config Tool for 10.5 and restart after the install has been completed.
Logging in to Active Directory
- Click on the Go menu and choose Connect to Server...
- In the Server Address field type your department share path such as: smb://dept.ad.umn.edu/dept$/home/username
- When prompted, enter you Internet ID (lowercase) and Internet password.
- The network share will appear as a network drive in any finder window.
Troubleshooting
- You may need your X.500 password resynced if your password works for e-mail but not for AD authentication. Please contact umnad@umn.edu to request a password resync.
- Verify that Kerberos port 88 UDP & TCP is open on your network.
- Verify that the edu.mit.Kerberos file is installed in Library\Preferences and delete edu.mit.Kerberos.preAD if it exists.
- Delete any related login keychains in Keychain Access within Applications\Utilities.
