1. Pre-Install Notes
Things to know:
- You do not need to install the Oracle Calendar to use the palm synchronization
- You do need to have the Palm Desktop installed.
- Do not synchronize your device with the UMCal sync tool from
more than one computer.
2. UMCal Palm Sync for Windows Requirements
Microsoft Windows Requirements
- Support Versions of Windows:
- Windows 98/ME
- Windows NT 4.0
- Windows 2000
- Windows XP
- 75 MB disk space
- 64 MB ram
Palm Requirements
- Palm Desktop 3.1 to 4.1.4
- Palm OS 3.5.x, Palm OS 4.x, Palm OS 5.2.x, Palm OS 5.4.x
- Note: Integration with Franklin-Covey planner software is not
supported at this time.
3. Installing UMCal Palm Sync for Windows
Downloading the sync tool
To download the latest version of the software, go to: http://www.umn.edu/umcal/download
Installing the sync tool
- Double-click the file umcal-syncpalm-win-<version>.hqx. This will automatically extract the installer OraCalSync_<version>-X.app. Double click the installer icon
- The installer will begin. When it finishes, the synchronization settings dialog will open. See Configure the Conduits below.
- After you double-click the installer, the following screen will appear. Click next

- Click Next after the initiation screen

- Choose the destination folder. The default folder is preferred.

- Choose your setup type.
Complete will install all three conduits: Date Book, To Do, Address Book
Choose Custom if you want to choose which conduits are installed.

- If you chose Custom above, click the drive icon next to the conduit and select the appropriate option

- In this picture, only the Date Book Conduit will be installed...
Click next.

- Click install

4. Configuring UMCal Palm Sync for Microsoft Windows
Configuring the conduit
- On the Sign In category, fill out your user information.
User Input: UMCal Settings |
The Server is the same for all campuses:
umcal.umn.edu
Enter the Node number for your campus.
100 - Crookston
200 - Duluth
300 - Morris
400 - Rochester
Twin Cities users, see below.

Twin Cities users should refer to http://www.umn.edu/umcal/nodes
to determine their node assignment.

- All of the rest of the settings are user customizable. Set them to your own preference
