1. Pre-Install Requirements

Preinstall Checklist
- Outlook 98 and Outlook 2000 must be installed in Corporate/Workgroup mode. Verify the Outlook configuration by choosing Tools > Options > Mail Services > Reconfigure Mail Support.
- To avoid losing information, Oracle Corporation recommends that you synchronize your offline folders before installing the Connector.
2. UMCal Outlook Connector Requirements

3. Configure Outlook for Corporate or Workgroup Mode
Configuring Outlook
Important: For Outlook XP (2002) or Outlook 2003 users, please skip this section for configuring for Workgroup mode and go directly to the install section. |
- Outlook must be configured for corporate or workgroup mode prior to the installation of the Connector Plug-in. To verify this, start Outlook, then go to the Help menu and select About Microsoft Outlook.

- If Outlook is already in "Corporate or Workgroup" mode, then you can skip directly to the installation section. Otherwise, follow the following steps to re-configure Outlook.
- Within Outlook, go to the Tools menu and select Options.
Click on Reconfigure Mail Support.

- Select Corporate or Workgroup and click on the Next button.

- Click on the Yes button.

- Restart Outlook. You will be prompted to insert your Office installation CD Media.

- Insert you CD or modify the location of your install media and continue. You will be prompted to insert your Office installation CD Media. Once this completed, quit of of Outlook and begin the installation of the plug-in.
4. Exporting Outlook Data
Exporting Outlook Data
If you are a currently using a calendar on a Microsoft Exchange Server or in Microsoft Outlook, it is necessary to export your calendar so later in the install process you can import your old calendar into UMCal.
- In Outlook, click on File, then go to Import and Export.

- On the next screen, select Export to a file and then click Next to continue.

- At the "Export to a File" screen, select Personal Folder File (.pst) and then click Next.

- Select the calendar that you want to export and then click on Next to continue.

- At the next screen, choose a location to save your calendar to, select Replace duplicates with items exported, and then click Finish. It is recommended that you save your calendar to the desktop. After clicking Finish, you will have a copy of your calendar on your desktop (or the location you saved it to) called backup.pst. At this point you are ready to install the Oracle Connector for Outlook.

5. Installing the Outlook Connector
Downloading the connector
To download the latest version of the software, go to: http://www.umn.edu/umcal/download
Installing the connector
- After the file has downloaded, find the folder that the file was downloaded to and double-click on umcal-outlook-(version).exe .

- After clicking on the file, a prompt will appear asking you if you like to continue. Click on Yes .

- Next, a welcome screen will appear welcoming you to the Oracle Connector setup. Click Next to continue.

- At the "User Information" screen, input your Name and Company information and then click on Next to continue.
- When the "Choose Destination Location" screen appears, click Next to continue.

- At the "Additional Languages" screen, click Next to continue.

- When the "Start Copying Files" screen appears, click Next to start the installation.

- After the files have been copied to your computer, a screen will appear asking for you to create a new profile or use an existing profile. Make sure that Create a new profile is selected and click Next to continue. If you have a previous profile with saved E-mail messages, you may import it into your new profile at a later time.

- When the "Oracle Calendar Server Configuration" screen appears, make sure that Corporate is selected and then click Next.

- Configure the connector like the following. After filling in the fields, click Next to continue.
User Input: UMCal Settings |
Server: umcal.umn.edu.
Account name: field, type in your University Internet ID.
Keep the Password field blank for security purposes.

- Configure your email address to be like the following. Make sure that the Use same settings as my Oracle Calendar server box is checked and then click Next to continue.

- Next, at the "SMTP Configuration" screen, use these settings. Make sure that The server requires authentication and Use same settings as my incoming mail server boxes are checked and then click Next to continue

- At the "E-mail Sender Information" screen, enter in your Display name, your E-mail address and then click Next to continue.

- If your computer uses dial-up or you have a laptop, please check the I will use this computer while not connected to the network. If your computer is a desktop, make sure that the box is unchecked.
Click Next to continue.

- At the next screen, click Next to start configuring the Oracle Connector for Outlook.

- After the connector has been configured, uncheck the Yes, I want to view the ReadMe file and click Finish to exit the setup.

- After the configuration has finished, go to Start, then Control Panel, and double-click on the Mail icon.
- When the "Mail Setup - Oracle Connector for Outlook" screen appears, click the E-mail Accounts button.

- Next, click View or change existing e-mail accounts and then click Next.

- When the next screen appears, click Oracle Connector for Outlook and then click Change.

- When the "Oracle Connector for Outlook" screen appears, click on the IMAP4 tab and then click the Advanced button.

- At the "IMAP4 Advanced" screen, click The server requires a secure connection (SSL) box and enter 993 into the Server Port field. Click OK to continue.

- When the "Oracle Connector for Outlook" screen re-appears, click on the SMTP tab and then click the Advanced button
- At the "SMTP Advanced" screen, click The server requires a secure connection (SSL) box and enter 465 into the Server Port field. Click OK to continue.

- When the "Oracle Connector for Outlook" screen re-appears, click OK, then click Finish, and then click Close. You are now ready to start using the UMCal Calendar system with Outlook.
6. Importing Old Mail
For POP mail users: If you had a POP mail account and you do not see your old mail in your new Outlook profile, do not be alarmed. Click here for instructions on getting your old mail back into your new profile.
