UMCal Outlook Connector 10g Upgrade
1. Pre-Install Requirements

Preinstall Checklist
- To avoid losing information, Oracle recommends that you synchronize your offline folders before installing the Connector.
2. UMCal Outlook Connector Requirements
Windows Requirements
- Windows 2000
- Windows XP
- Windows Vista
Note: Windows 2000 and XP require you to have administrative privileges on your computer in order to install Oracle Connector for Outlook |
Outlook Requirements
- Outlook 2003
- Oultook 2007
Note: Native Language version or Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) is required for non-English version localization (see supported languages) |
3. Exporting Outlook Data
If you maintain a separate calendar, address book, or POP mail folders in Outlook, you should create a backup of the files by export the data to a PST file. Remember to import the data back into Outlook after completing the upgrade.
- In Outlook, click on File, then go to Import and Export.

- On the next screen, select Export to a file and then click Next to continue.

- At the "Export to a File" screen, select Personal Folder File (.pst) and then click Next.

- Select the calendar or other data that you want to export and then click on Next to continue.

- At the next screen, choose a location to save your data to, select Replace duplicates with items exported, and then click Finish. It is recommended that you save your calendar to the desktop. After clicking Finish, you will have a copy of your calendar on your desktop (or the location you saved it to) called backup.pst.

4. Upgrading the Outlook Connector
- Double-click on the 10g Outlook Connector installer to begin the process.
Note: The installer is available to staff only. If you need to download the installers and are not a member of the staff, contact umcal@umn.edu
- The installer will confirm that you want to upgrade the Outlook Connector. Click Yes.

- At the Upgrading Oracle Connector for Outlook screen, click Next to continue.

- The installer will then copy the necessary files and configure your system.

- After the installer has upgraded the necessary files, click Finish.

5. Configuring the Outlook Connector
- Double-click the Oracle Connector Configuration Wizard icon on your desktop
- At the Welcome screen click Next to continue.

- At the Profile Settings screen, select the profile you had previously configured to use UMCal (typically Oracle Connector for Outlook) and click Next to continue.

- At the Service Settings screen, verify that the information below is entered correctly. When you have verified that these settings are correct, click More Settings.
Calendar
- Server Name: umcal.umn.edu
- Account Name: <your Internet ID>
Mail
- Incoming Server Name (IMAP): <your Internet ID>.email.umn.edu (i.e. user1234.email.umn.edu)
- Outgoing Server Name (SMTP): smtp.umn.edu
- Display Name: Your Name
- E-mail Address: your email address @umn.edu

- Switch to the IMAP4 tab. Verify that Use same settings as my Oracle Calendar server is checked, then click Advanced.

- Verify that the The server requires a secure connection (SSL) box is checked and that Server Port is set to 993. Click OK.

- Switch to the SMTP tab. Verify that the The server requires authentication box is checked and click Settings.

- At the Outgoing E-Mail Server screen, verify that the Use same settings as my incoming mail server box is checked. Click OK.

- After returning to the SMTP tab, click the Advanced button. Verify that the The server requires a secure connection (SSL) box is checked and that Server Port is set to 465. Click OK. When you return to the previous screen, click OK again.

- After returning to the Server Settings screen, click Next.

- At the Congratulations screen, select whether or not to use the profile you have just created to be the default. Click Finish. You may now being using Outlook with the Outlook Connector installed.
