3. Exporting Outlook Data
Existing Calendars, Address Books, and Local Mail
If you are a currently using the calendar within Outlook as a standalone calendar or running against a Microsoft Exchange server, it is necessary to export your calendar so later in the install process you can import your old calendar into UMCal. This process can also be
used for locally stored address books and mail.
- In Outlook, click on File, then go to Import and Export.

- On the next screen, select Export to a file and then click Next to continue.

- At the "Export to a File" screen, select Personal Folder File (.pst) and then click Next.

- Select the calendar or other data that you want to export and then click on Next to continue.

- At the next screen, choose a location to save your calendar to, select Replace duplicates with items exported, and then click Finish. It is recommended that you save your calendar to the desktop. After clicking Finish, you will have a copy of your calendar on your desktop (or the location you saved it to) called backup.pst. At this point you are ready to install the Oracle Connector for Outlook.

Mail Rules
If you setup mail rules, take the following steps to export those rules prior to the upgrade process.
- From the Tools menu, select Rules and Alerts.
- Click the Options button on the E-mail Rules tab.
- Click Export Rules.
- Save the export file on your computer.
To import your mail rules after installing the Outlook Connector:
- From the Tools menu, select Rules and Alerts.
- Click the Options button on the E-mail Rules tab.
- Click Import Rules.
- Locate the file you saved earlier, select it, and click Open.
4. Installing the Outlook Connector
- Double-click on the 10g Outlook Connector installer to begin the process. Wait while the installer extracts the necessary files.
Note: The installer is available to staff only. If you need to download the installers and are not a member of the staff, contact umcal@umn.edu
- At the Welcome to screen, click Next.

- At the Customer Information screen, enter your name and organization. Click Next.

- At the Destination Folder screen, verify that the Add a shortcut... box is checked. Click Next.

- At the Add/Remove Languages screen, click Next.

- At the Ready to Install... screen, click Install.

- Wait while the installer copies the necessary files and configures your computer.

- Once the installation has completed, check the Start Oracle Connector Configuration Wizard box and click Finish.

5. Configuring the Outlook Connector
- The Configuration Wizard automatically launches after installation is complete. Click Next at the Welcome screen.

- At the Profile Settings screen, click New

- Provide a name or your new profile. Click OK.

- Highlight the profile you created in the previous step and click Next.

- At the Service Settings screen, enter the information below. When you have entered this information, click More Settings.
Calendar
- Server Name: umcal.umn.edu
- Account Name: <your Internet ID>
Mail
- Incoming Server Name (IMAP): <your Internet ID>.email.umn.edu (i.e. user1234.email.umn.edu)
- Outgoing Server Name (SMTP): smtp.umn.edu
- Display Name: Your Name
- E-mail Address: your email address @umn.edu

- Click on the More Settings... button and switch to the Incoming Mail tab.
- Check the button for SSL in the Secure server connection using: field. Verify that Server Port is set to 993.

- Switch to the Outgoing Mail tab. Check the button for SSL in the Secure server connection using: field. Verify that Server Port is set to 465.

- Change the Settings: field to AuthenticationCheck the box for The server requires authentication and enter your user name. Click OK.

- After returning to the Server Settings screen, click Next.

- At the Congratulations screen, select whether or not to use the profile you have just created to be the default. Click Finish. You may now being using Outlook with the Outlook Connector installed.

6. Importing Old Mail
For POP mail users: If you had a POP mail account and you do not see your old mail in your new Outlook profile, do not be alarmed. Click here for instructions on getting your old mail back into your new profile.
