UMCal Privacy & Access Rights - Outlook Connector
How can I verify that others can see only my busy times?
The default viewing rights in UMCal allow others to see your busy times but NOT the details surrounding those events. You may verify this by making sure that the default viewing rights on your calendar are set to "view times only."
- Select Folder List from the Go menu. The Folder List menu item is circled in red in the figure below.

- Right-click on Calendar in the folder list on the left. Select Properties from the context menu.

- Click on the Permissions tab to switch views.

- With anyone selected in the list of users, the permission level should be set to Custom with View times only selected for all access levels.

How can I hide my calendar from everyone?
You may prevent others from viewing even your busy times. Users will still be able to open your calendar, however they will be unable to view any busy times or event details.
- Select Folder List from the Go menu.
- Right-click on Calendar in the folder list on the left. Select Properties from the context menu.
- Click on the Permissions tab to switch views.
- With anyone selected in the list of users, set the permission level to None.

How can I prevent others from scheduling with me?
You may turn off the ability of other users to propose meetings to you through the permissions window. By default, other users are able to propose meetings to you.
- Select Folder List from the Go menu.
- Right-click on Calendar in the folder list on the left. Select Properties from the context menu.
- Click on the Permissions tab to switch views.
- With anyone selected in the list of users, uncheck the Can invite me to meetings box.

- Click OK or Apply to save any changes.
How can I grant a user rights other than the defaults?
You may add users to your access rights listing to grant them rights that are not the defaults.
- Select Folder List from the Go menu.
- Right-click on Calendar in the folder list on the left. Select Properties from the context menu.
- Click on the Permissions tab to switch views.
- Click Add.
- Enter the beginning portion of a user's first or last name and click OK.

- If more than one user matches your search criteria, you will be presented with a list of options. Select the correct user and click OK.

- Select the user you have just added from the list of available users. Adjust their rights accordingly. For example, to allow this user to view the details of normal events but times only for confidential and personal events, select the View entries radio button for normal events and the View times only radio buttons for personal and confidential events.

How can I set the access level for an event in my agenda?
Through the Outlook Connector, events can be defined only as normal or personal ("private" in Outlook). To change the access level of an event to personal, check the Private box in the lower right corner of the edit event window. You may also right-click on an event and check the Private item in the context menu.

What will my calendar look like to others?
