Note: The UMCal Team strongly recommends against the use of OCFO by non-technical staff or in unmanaged environments. Due to the wide variety of Outlook configurations and differences in mail accounts setups, the provided installation instructions account for a single, standard setup case; using these directions in other situations may necessitate additional steps to restore data from your existing Outlook setup. We strongly recommend using either a desktop client or the web client in place of OCFO.
Note: OCFO is not supported with Outlook 2007. If you are upgrading to Office 2007, you should perform a custom installation and keep the previous version of Office installed on your computer and not install Outlook 2007.
Oracle has certified Oracle Connector for Outlook for Vista as of version 10.1.3.0.7. The certified version is available for download at http://www1.umn.edu/umcal/ocfo/update/ocfo_1013_07.exe. This version only certifies Windows Vista and does not certify OCFO for Microsoft Outlook 2007. Oracle is planning to release a version of OCFO certified for Outlook 2007 in Q12008.
It is critical that all OCFO users apply Microsoft's time zone
definition update immediately. For XP users, this update is
available through Windows Update/Microsoft Update as MS928388--Microsoft has updated the update to MS931836. You can also obtain the update
directly from Microsoft here.
Users of other Windows versions should see Microsoft knowledgebase
article on this issue.
See http://www.umn.edu/umcal/dst/ for information on how to address possibly incorrect data in your UMCal calendar.
The latest version of the Oracle Connector for Outlook (OCFO) is 10.1.3.0.6. This is also the recommended version for users as it corrects certain display errors that are unresolvable in earlier versions of OCFO. You must use this version with Office 2003 Service Pack 2.
Alternatively, you might select the Windows desktop client as a replacement for the Outlook Connector. The desktop client provides additional stability and fewer support requirements when compared to the Outlook Connector, with most of the same features.
Support for OCFO is available only to installations on University-owned systems.
