What Is UMCal?

UMCal is a University wide personal calendar management & scheduling system. UMCal can be used across various platforms with a downloadable client such as:

  • Microsoft Windows
  • Apple MacOS 9 & 10
  • Linux/Unix
  • Microsoft PocketPC
  • PalmOS

Or can be used via a web browser by going to http://umcal.umn.edu and logging in with your x500.

UMCal allows University community members to share calendars & resources amongst each other.

How Do I Get Access to UMCal?

For access to UMCal you must work within a department that has been enabled or submit a faculty/staff access request form. To determine whether or not you have calendar access, go to http://www.umn.edu/myaccount and login using your Internet ID and password. If you do not see the Calendar Account Options link you will need to submit an access request form, available here: http://www.umn.edu/umcal/forms/UMCalSignUp.html .

There are several reasons the Calendar Account Options section may not appear, even if you are within a department that has been calendar-enabled. Sponsored, departmental and student employees will not see the section, nor will employees who have portions of their directory information suppressed.

How Do I Start Using UMCal?

Before using UMCal you must first initiate your calendar. Go to http://www.umn.edu/myaccount and login using your Internet ID and password. Follow the link to the Calendar Account Options section and follow the instructions provided. If you do not have a Calendar Account Options section you will need to submit an access request form.

Once your calendar has been created you can find software downloads in the Get UMCal section. Installation instructions and user guides can be found in the UMCal Support section.
