Software discounts
for U of M Faculty/Staff personal computer
The Office of
Information Technology (OIT) Academic and Distributed Computing Services
(ADCS) offers several popular Microsoft software at a reduced price
for U of MN Faculty and Staff for use on their own personal computers
through the Microsoft Academic Select Program. Faculty/staff are eligible
for only one software product per family (e.g. Office family, Windows
OS) through this program, until a new version of the software becomes
available in their computer platform (e.g. Windows operating system
or MacOS). All orders must be placed through an
online order form. You can select to pick up the media at the
University Computer Services (UCS) location or to have it shipped
to a US location for an additional fee. Login with your InternetID
and password for software prices. You will receive an email confirmation
with instructions based upon your online order information. Software
cannot be returned to UCS if software package has been opened.
U
of M Faculty and Staff that have ordered an older version of the software
in the past will be able to order a new software version if:
- the
order for an older version of the software was placed before the
new version became available, and
- they
are still employed at the U of M at the time they place an online
order.

Computers must run Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 2 or newer

2007, Access 2007, Outlook 2007, OneNote 2007, Groove 2007,
and InfoPath 2007.

in the past will be able to purchase the Office 2008 for Mac
software, if they placed their order for the Office 2004 for
Mac before the new version becomes available.

This
CD set includes all of the modules for the Macintosh,
including Virtual PC for Mac version 7. You must
have a legal version of the Windows operating system
to run a Virtual PC or run Windows operating system
on a Mac with an Intel chip. The appropriate Microsoft
Windows operating system requirements are listed
below.
- Using
Virtual PC (VPC) - In order to create a VPC, the MacOS
fills the full version of the Windows OS requirement, so you
can purchase the Windows XP Pro upgrade software available
through this program.

are eligible for only one Windows software product
through the Microsoft Academic Select program.
You must have a previous legal version of Windows installed
on your computer to use the upgrade software through this
program.
