Software
options for computers owned by the U of M
The U of M Office of Information Technology (OIT) has negotiated reduced prices for computers that are owned and paid for by the University of Minnesota. There are several options available below:
1. U of M Campus Agreement software - The U of M has purchased popular software licenses for all U of M colleges and departments system-wide. Some software examples include Microsoft Windows operating system upgrades (e.g. Vista), MacOSX, Linux (RedHat, Fedora Core, Ubuntu), Microsoft Office (for Windows operating system and the MacOS), Virtual PC, SharePoint Designer, Publisher, and StarOffice.
2. U of M Microsoft Academic Select Program - The Microsoft Academic Select program offers additional discounted Microsoft software options for U of M departments that are not available through the Campus Agreement program. The U of M department owns the software, the software media, and any documentation.
3. U of M Software License Program - There are several U of M software license programs available for students, faculty, staff, and departments. This link is to the complete list of the U of M software license agreement options.
4. UMart website - For all other software, departments can order discounted software online, which will be shipped to the department location.
