Gopher GOLD™ Program

What is Gopher GOLD value?
Gopher GOLD Value is value you deposit to your online Gopher GOLD account and use to pay for campus goods and services using your U Card, Gopher GOLD card or summer programs card.

Where can I use Gopher GOLD value?
You can use Gopher GOLD value anywhere you see the Gopher GOLD value accepted here sticker, including: library copy centers, computer print labs, campus vending machines, and UDS locations.

How do I make a deposit to my Gopher GOLD account?
There are three ways to make a deposit to your Gopher GOLD account:
• Deposit value from your check or debit card at www.gophergold.umn.edu.
Read through each section carefully and follow the prompts. You must make a minimum deposit of $10 online using your check or debit card.
• Make a cash deposit at any of the six ValuePort locations on campus.
• Make a cash or check deposit at the Coffman U Card Office.

What is a ValuePort?
A ValuePort is a machine that accepts cash, that is credited to your online Gopher GOLD account immediately. Cash in the amounts of $1, $5, $10, $20 will be accepted. ValuePorts do not accept credit cards.

How do I use my Gopher GOLD account?
In order to use your Gopher GOLD account you must make a minimum deposit of $10.

Is there a maximum amount that I can deposit?
You can deposit up to $1,000 into your Gopher GOLD account.

When I'm at the web page to enter my credit card info the secure checkout is managed by Authorize.net. Who is Authorize.net?
Authorize.net is a payment gateway service provider that provides secure transaction processing of credit and debit cards through its website and over an IP (Internet Protocol) connection.

Why am I charged a $2.00 convenience fee when I make an online deposit?
The $2.00 convenience fee for online deposits is used to support web deposits that can be conveniently made 24/7. The fee is added to the amount charged to your credit or debit card.

There is no fee assessed to access your account information.

Deposits are accepted, with no convenience fee, at campus ValuePorts and at the U Card Office.

Is the convenience fee refundable?
No. Because the convenience fee is used to support the web environment that you used to make your deposit.

Is my Gopher GOLD account the same as my TCF U Card Checking Account?
Your Gopher GOLD account is an online declining balance account that you can use on campus to pay for goods and services. TCF U Card Checking is a checking account with TCF bank.
