A photography exhibit of women faculty in the Institute of Technology (IT) was created by IT communications specialist Nancy Johnson, who received an IDEA (Innovation, Diversity, Equity, and Achievement) grant from the Office of Equity and Diversity. In a college dedicated to the advancement of technology, the exhibit captures in black-and-white photographs the people behind the change. Nov. 27 through July 4, Minnesota History Center, St. Paul. November Federal Relations Report
FY 2010 appropriations bills include modest boosts for science and higher education priorities. It appears unlikely that any further economic stimulus legislation would include either research funding or help for students, but the struggling economy is pressuring elected officials to act in unexpected ways. For the U research community, the focus will be ensuring that the administration and Congressional leadership live up to their commitments to basic research and increased higher education attainment.
