Athletics

The Golden Gophers—eleven women's and eleven men's varsity sports teams in the Big Ten conference—compete at Williams Arena, the Sports Pavilion, Mariucci Hockey Arena, Ridder Arena, the Aquatic Center, and sports fields at many locations.

University of Minnesota-Duluth athletics continues to reign as one of the most well-balanced and competitive programs in the Upper Midwest. Fourteen of UMD's 16 intercollegiate teams -- baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer, softball, women’s tennis, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field, and volleyball -- will begin their second year of competition in the North Central Conference this season. The UMD men's and women's ice hockey programs, meanwhile, are aligned with the prestigious Western Collegiate Hockey Association, a NCAA Division I circuit.

The core mission of intercollegiate athletics at the University of Minnesota, Morris, competing under the name of the Morris Cougars, is to provide a high quality competitive experience for women and men who participate in both 'major' and 'minor' sports.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagles compete as members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
