(May 12, 2006)
The essence of health professional schools is to educate and train the next generation of health professionals in a highly innovative environment that brings new knowledge to the prevention and treatment of disease. This necessitates vibrant and energetic clinical sciences that encompass all health professionals at the University of Minnesota and their scholarship and clinical practice.
The task force will define clinical science to incorporate scholarship, research, education and clinical practice, and new models of care delivery; inventory and assess the current status of clinical science in the Academic Health Center; propose goals for the development of clinical sciences; develop a plan for achieving those goals; and propose the financial resources needed to achieve those goals.
