Administrative Task Force - Focus Administrative Support on Serving Students, Faculty, and Academic Units

Final Report
(August 7, 2006)

Revised Progress and Implementation Priorities Report
(March 24, 2006)

The goal of this task force is to focus administrative support on serving faculty, students, and academic units.  Administrative and support services must be purposefully and transparently oriented towards advancing the University’s teaching, research, and public engagement missions and achieving its strategic goals and initiatives.  Services must be provided in a way that helps faculty teach and produce world-class knowledge and students learn, grow, and graduate in a timely manner.  A focus in this area will decrease service duplication and increase satisfaction and productivity among the people served by administrative and support services.  This task force will work closely with the task forces assigned to the issues of undergraduate and graduate student support.

This task force is responsible for providing direction and resources to a portfolio of administrative project implementation efforts.  A detailed implementation plan, including a sequenced list of projects, is due to the Administrative Service and Productivity Steering Committee by January 1, 2006.  Projects that are expected to be a part of this task force’s portfolio include: centralized classroom scheduling tools; enhancing one-stop services for faculty and expanding the one-stop concept to human resources, financial processing, and conference scheduling; enhancing one-stop services for faculty and streamlined business processes for faculty and students; and a reengineering of property management service provision.

Implementation Plan due: January 1, 2006
