Administrative Task Force - Maximize Opportunities for People of the University to Grow, Develop, and Contribute

Final Report
(August 7, 2006)

Revised Progress and Implementation Priorities Report
(March 24, 2006)

This task force is responsible for providing direction and resources to a portfolio of administrative project implementation efforts.  A detailed implementation plan, including a sequenced list of projects, is due to the Administrative Service and Productivity Steering Committee by January 1, 2006.

The goal of this task force is to maximize opportunities for the people of the University to grow, develop, and contribute.  With approximately seventy percent of the University’s budget going to human resource related expenses, the University has a considerable investment in its employees.  The University must transform its human resource system to foster creativity and innovation while enhancing effective, accountable administration.  This task force will seek ways to engage employees as strategic partners in achieving the University’s long term goals.  The partnership will be driven by compensation and benefits, a high quality workplace, evaluation and review of practices, and opportunities for growth and development across all employee groups.  This task force will work closely with the task forces assigned to the issue of culture.

Projects that are expected to be part of this task force's portfolio include:  an analysis of barriers to career mobility and strategies that will promote mobility more effectively; enhancing performance management tools and practices; identifying leadership development approaches and initiatives that advance great leadership at the U; revising compensation and classification structures to better ensure transparency and usability; initiatives that further leverage technology to reduce cost of routine transactions and support great service; and implementation strategies for a learning management system.

Implementation Plan due: January 1, 2006
