Dear University Faculty, Staff and Students,

We are pleased to announce that preliminary recommendations from another 10 strategic positioning task forces as part of our ongoing initiative to transform the U are available for public review and comment on the Transforming the U Web site at www.umn.edu/transforming_the_u through April 30.

On the Transforming the U Web site you will find preliminary recommendations from the following task forces:

Academic Task Forces (Team Leader: Tom Sullivan)

  • Graduate Reform: Discipline Evolution
  • College Design: Science/Engineering
  • College Design: CLA

Academic Health Center Task Forces (Team Leader: Frank Cerra)

  • AHC Precinct Plan
  • Knowledge Management Technology
  • Health Professional Workforce
  • Clinical Sciences Enterprise

Research Task Forces (Team Leader: Tim Mulcahy)

  • Research Infrastructure
  • Collaborative Research

Metrics and Measurement Task Force (Team Leader: Al Sullivan)

We encourage you to comment on any of the preliminary recommendations by submitting feedback via the online comment form on this Web site.  Many task forces will also hold public forums during the public comment period to discuss preliminary recommendations and gather community feedback.  We also encourage your active participation in these forum discussions.  Please consult the listing on the Transforming the U Web site for specific event information.

Public review and community feedback is a critically important part of the strategic positioning process and will help to strengthen even the best of recommendations.  These preliminary recommendations are available for public review and comment through April 30.  Revised recommendations are due to team leaders by May 5 and will be posted immediately thereafter.  With your help, the University of Minnesota is on the move and on our way to becoming one of the top three public research universities in the world.

Thank you for your participation.

Sincerely,

Tom Sullivan, Frank Cerra, Tim Mulcahy, Al Sullivan
