Keep your SPSS software running for another year...
Our license with SPSS, Inc. provides software that expires every year, typically
at the end of June, but infrequently at other dates.
We will send new license codes to all current licensees. If you are currently
licensed, but did not receive the new license codes, please phone our
Software Licensing office at 612.625.2310.
The instructions below explain how to apply the new license code to
your SPSS software to keep it running for another year.
Learn your current SPSS software expiration date
To display expiration dates and licensed components for SPSS that is still running: in SPSS, pull down the File menu, choose New > Syntax to open a Syntax window. Then enter and run the following command (don't forget the . ):
show license.

Update your SPSS software expiration date with a new license code
SPSS for Windows: Versions 9 through 12, including 10,11,11.5, and 12
Instructions to apply an SPSS license code for versions 9 through 12
(SPSS 13 and 14 do not use licrenew.exe)
Go to the directory (folder) where SPSS is installed
and double-click on the icon named licrenew (depending on your Windows
configuration, the name might be licrenew.exe).
You will be prompted for the license code.
Type the license code and press the enter key.
If it worked, you'll be prompted for another license code. Press enter
to exit this application.
SPSS 11 for Mac OSX
A small piece of software called the SPSS 11 License Renewal Utility
is required to apply the new license code. This piece of software is
included on the SPSS 11 for Mac OSX CD, but it is not installed to
your hard disk when you install SPSS.
In case you do not have the SPSS 11 for Mac OSX CD, you can download
the SPSS 11 License Renewal Utility from spss.com.
The downloaded file is stuffit'd so you will need StuffIt Expander or
some similar utility to decompress it.
Download the SPSS 11
License Renewal Utility at ftp://ftp.spss.com/pub/spss/mac/spss11licrenew.sit
To apply your new validation code to SPSS software, run the SPSS License Renewal
Utility and enter the new code where indicated.
To successfully apply the new license code when running the SPSS 11 for Mac OSX
License Renewal Utility, be sure to login to Mac OSX with the same username
that you used when you installed SPSS 11 for Mac OSX.
SPSS 10 for Mac OS9
A small piece of software called the SPSS 10 License Renewal Utility
is required to apply the new license code. This piece of software is
included on the SPSS 10 for Mac OS9 CD, but it is not installed to
your hard disk when you install SPSS.
In case you do not have the SPSS 10 for Mac OS9 CD, you can download

If it worked, you'll be prompted for another license code. Press enter
to exit this application.
Although this will update your license, a bug in SPSS 8.0 keeps the old date
on the startup screen. This old date in the startup screen does not imply
that your SPSS is expired, and does not prevent SPSS from running correctly.
A patch for SPSS 8.0
corrects this problem. The licrenew
program that is installed with the patch will allow the date on the SPSS logo
screen to be correctly changed.
SPSS 7.5 for Windows
Instructions to apply the SPSS 7.5 license code
Go to the directory (folder) where SPSS is installed
and double-click on the icon named licrenew (depending on your Windows95
configuration, the name might be licrenew.exe).
You will be prompted for the license code.
Type the license code and press the enter key.
If it worked, you'll be prompted for another license code. Press enter
to exit this application.
Although this will update your license, a bug in SPSS keeps the old date
on the startup screen. This old date in the startup screen does not imply
that your SPSS is expired, and does not prevent SPSS from running correctly.
If you want to correct this old date on the startup screen, you can edit
a file which resides in the same directory as you SPSS software.
Double-click on the icon named spsssite (depending on your Windows95
configuration, the name might be spsssite.txt). This will open the
file in Notepad. Change the year from 98 to 99, pull down the File
menu and choose Save.
SPSS 6 for Windows
Instructions to apply the SPSS 6 license code
run the Setup program (setup.exe) from Disk 1.
in the dialog box listing the modules to be installed, use the default,
or select the same modules previously installed. (This will not require
you to reinstall the system, but will update your registration.)
enter the new code when prompted.
SPSS 6 for Macintosh or Power Macintosh
Instructions to apply the SPSS 6 for Mac license code
SPSS will prompt you for the new license code after it expires
(that is, after the post-expiration-date grace period ends).
If you don't want to wait for it to expire, you can reinstall
just the SPSS Essentials, and SPSS will then prompt you for
the license code when you start it for the first time.
