Senior Citizen

You are proud of your age and the wisdom that it represents. You have been active, for example, in community politics and local organizations. You have recently retired, having worked for 40 years as a pharmacist on Ford Parkway.

You live on the second-to-top floor of the high-rise next to the Ford plant. You would have liked more luxurious accommodations, but on your retirement and social security you could only afford this apartment (though you do value staying in the neighborhood, and you enjoy the dramatic view south over the Mississippi from your window).

Your business undoubtedly benefited from Ford in the past, yet now you find yourself threatened by your once good neighbor. Some particular questions that you need to resolve:

Knowing both past and present, what are Ford's current responsibilities in this case? What responsibilities, if any, does the community have to Ford?
How should we view your situation, as someone particularly susceptible to the paint facility emissions, and as someone located in a place where you are most likely to feel their effects?
Given these considerations, what are justifiable terms for Ford's operating permit?
