FORD PLANT CASE STUDY

Stakeholders

Due to requests by members of the community, the state regulatory agency has just formed a Task Force to review studies and data on the facility's emissions and their potential health impacts, and to make recommendations on appropriate emissions levels, including reductions, if necessary. The selected Task Force includes:

2 representatives of Ford management --- 2 Ford workers, members of the local Union --- 3 Highland Park residents, each active in the Neighborhood Association -- 2 experts on risk assessment -- 1 representative from "Earth Protector," an environmental group

1 city councilman

1 member of the local Chamber of Commerce (and liquor store owner)

Together, these various stakeholders must come to a consensus on various questions about the Ford Plant, its practices, technologies and emissions. Remember that the best way to win agreement is to first listen carefully how other persons reason and then address their concerns when you respond.
