Outlook 2003

  1. Prior to configuring your client, you will need to have the latest Service Pack (SP)for Outlook: : This is SP1 for Outlook 2003, and SP3 for Outlook 2002. If you already have the latest SP, you can skip ahead to step 3. If you do not know what SP of Outlook you have, use the following directions to check your Outlook SP:
    • With Outlook Open, click on Help from the menu bar, and click About Microsoft Office Outlook.
    • This will pop up an About Outlook window. At the top of the popup you will see the version of Outlook you have. Following the version number, for example, "Outlook 2003 (11.6359.6360)", you will see the SP#. If you do not see SP#, you do not have any of the Service Packs for Outlook. You need SP1 for Outlook 2003, and SP3 for Outlook 2002.
  2. If you already have the latest Service Packs for Outlook, you can continue with step 3; otherwise, click here for instructions on updating Outlook.
  3. Launch Outlook.
  4. Click on Tools and select E-mail Accounts.

  5. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts and click the Next button.

  6. Select the account you wish to alter, and then click the Change button.

  7. Verify the following entries:
  8. Click on the "More Settings" button. 
  9. Select the "Outgoing Server" tab. Verify the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" box is checked, and "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.

  10. Click on the "Advanced" tab.

  11. Select the link which matches your screen.
