  1. Launch Outlook.
  2. Click on Tools and select Accounts.
  3. Select the account you wish to alter, and then click the Properties button.

  4. Click on the Servers tab and verify the following entries:
    • Incoming mail server: your_internet_id.email.umn.edu
    • Outgoing mail server: smtp.umn.edu
    • User Name: your_internet_id
    • "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" is unchecked
    • "My server requires authentication" is checked

  5. Click on the "Settings" button. Make sure "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.

  6. Click "OK".
  7. Now you are back in the Properties window, with the Servers tab selected. The first line of text will look like one of the following. Please click the one which corresponds to your screen:

    Incoming server (IMAP)              Incoming server (POP3)
