Netscape 6.2.3 for Mac OS 9

• With a mail window open (if one is not open, go to the File menu, category New and then subcategory Message), under the Edit menu, select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings.
• If you are setting up your U of MN e-mail account for the first time, click on the New Account button in the lower left of the window; if your U of MN e-mail account has previously been configured, skip to IMAP (preferred at the U of MN) or POP instructions here.
• Netscape 6 will open the Account Wizard. For account type, choose ISP or email provider and click Next.

• Using your name and e-mail address, set your e-mail account identity in this window and click Next.
 

 

• In this window, check to see whether Netscape is set to use IMAP (preferred) or POP. If your incoming server is not set, set it to <your U of MN Internet ID>.email.umn.edu. Unless your outgoing server is already set, you will be prompted to set that as well. Input smtp.umn.edu in the space provided. Click Next.
  

• Ensure that your user name is set correctly, click Next and set your preferred account name.

• Check your settings; if they seem correct, click Finish.
