BOARD OF REGENTS POLICY

ACCESSIONING AND DEACCESSIONING MUSEUM COLLECTIONS

The Board of Regents (Board) of the University of Minnesota (University) holds title to the permanent collections of University museums and galleries.

Subd. 1. Delegation of Authority. The Board authorizes the president or delegate to approve additions and deletions to any collection provided that such actions are in accordance with the museum's accessioning and deaccessioning policies.

Subd. 2. Required Policies. Each museum or gallery shall develop and maintain policies for accessioning and deaccessioning permanent collections. These policies and any amendments require Board approval.
