Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) makes every effort to
provide safe and clear parking during the winter. Special provisions
are made for residence hall students by providing alternate overnight
parking during snow plowing.
In general, snow removal starts one or two days after a snowstorm
only when snowfall exceeds three inches. Otherwise, PTS maintenance
will sand and salt parking lots as necessary, regardless of the
amount of snowfall.
Most major snow removal operations take place overnight, so contract
patrons should be aware and prepared to move their vehicles to the
predetermined alternate facilities. If you need assistance locating
your alternate facility, parking maps are available at your residence
hall reception desk.
Campus Plowing Procedure
Step 1: PTS notifies residence hall directors in advance
of snow removal times.
Step 2: The residence hall posts plowing signs with the date
included.
Step 3: PTS e-mails the snow plowing schedule and vehicle
re-location areas to the students with parking contracts.
Step 4: Unmoved vehicles will be towed (effective Jan. 2005).

Icy Conditions
When appropriate, salt and sand are applied before icy conditions
occur or when ice has accumulated on campus. When a specific University
parking area is reported as being particularly slippery, it is serviced
at the earliest opportunity and may be posted "Caution Slippery"
at the main entrance(s). To help keep our facilities and roadway safe
during icy conditions, members of the University community are reminded
to use caution. |
