Seasonal repairs
are inevitable, especially those that result from Minnesota winters.
Most repairs occur during the spring and summer months. In some cases,
repairs require temporarily rerouting traffic or relocating parking
patrons. Repairs and duties performed by Parking and Transportation
Services maintenance staff include:
- Pothole repairs begin in early April,
as soon as asphalt plants reopen. Parking and Transportation Services
offers a Pothole Hotline every spring and encourages students,
staff, and faculty to report potholes on campus by dialing 612-626-7578.
- Structural repairs and deck washing in
parking ramps and garages are done in the spring and summer.
Please note: During repairs and deck washing, contract and public
parkers may be temporarily relocated to another parking facility.
Signage will be posted and/or flyers distributed well in advance
to alert patrons of the change.
- Surface inspections take place every spring
for all University surface lots, streets, and paths. Repairs reported
during the inspection are typically done in June and July.
- Seal coating is done every five to seven
years to protect surfaces from chemicals and inclement weather.
Please note: During seal coating, contract and public parkers
may be temporarily relocated to another parking facility. Signage
will be posted and/or flyers distributed well in advance to alert
patrons of the change.
- Planting projects around campus are started
in mid to late April. Final details of landscape beautification
projects are completed in May and June.
- Power sweeping of all campus parking facilities
is done every fall.
