Reciprocal Parking

All 24-hour staff and faculty contract holders are eligible for reciprocal parking privileges. Reciprocal parking allows you to attend meetings or conduct University business on a different campus from where your contract is located.

Student contract holders are NOT eligible for reciprocal parking privileges.

HANGTAG CONTRACT HOLDERS
If you have a contract with a hangtag, you can reciprocally park on a space-available basis in the following locations as long as you are parking on a different campus from your contract. All you need to do is display your hangtag as usual.

** NOTE: Reciprocal space is NOT guaranteed during special events or large group reservations.

  WBOB - upper level only Anytime (depending on space availability)**

  Lot SC175 Saturday and Sunday, fall & spring semester
  Lot SC175 Summer, 7 days a week, except during State Fair
Como Ave. Lot C66 at Como and 29th Ave. Anytime, except during State Fair

State Fairgrounds Lot SC108 Evening Reciprocity
In order to comply with State Fair policies, customers cannot park in State Fairgrounds Lot SC108 between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. A special evening reciprocity program allows customers who have 24-hour contracts in SC108 to park in other contract lots on the St. Paul campus between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. on weeknights and 24 hours on weekends and official University holidays. Lots included in this special reciprocity program are:
East Gortner and North Buford
SC102, SC161, SC173, and SC186
East Gortner and South Buford
SC150, SC153, SC156
West Gortner and North Buford
SC109, SC169, and SC175
West Gortner and South Buford
SC151

KEYCARD CONTRACT HOLDERS
If you have a contract with a keycard, you can reciprocally park on a space-available basis in the locations listed below. Simply use your keycard to gain entrance to the facility.

Off-Peak Reciprocity
Additional reciprocal parking privileges are available to keycard contract holders on a space-available basis, after 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; all day on Saturday and Sunday; and on official University holidays. Space is not guaranteed during special events or large group reservations. The facilities are listed below:

East Bank - Fourth Street Ramp, East River Road Garage, Oak Street Ramp, Nolte Center Garage, University Avenue Ramp, Washington Avenue Ramp, and surface lot C72. Surface lots C51, C55, and C58 do allow reciprocal parking during the day, but are closed from midnight to 5 a.m. (no overnight parking allowed).

West Bank - Nineteenth Avenue Ramp, Twenty-First Avenue Ramp, West Bank Office Building Ramp (lower levels only; this does not include the top level), and surface lots C86 and C98.

St. Paul - Gortner Avenue Ramp.

MISCELLANEOUS RULES
No Night Contract Reciprocity
Night contract patrons pay a significantly lower rate than 24-hour contract patrons, and are not allowed reciprocal parking privileges.

No Fairview Reciprocity
Fairview Hospital employees who have a contract in the Oak Street Ramp are not eligible for reciprocal privileges.

No Reciprocity for Student Contracts
Student contract holders are not eligible for reciprocal parking privileges.

No Reciprocity for Departmental Contracts
Departmental contracts are issued for a particular reason and a specific location. Therefore, reciprocal privileges are not available to department contracts.

Special Reciprocal Permits
Special reciprocal permit locations are available for teaching and research needs by sending a written request to Parking and Transportation Services, Room 300 Transportation and Safety Building; faxing it to 612-624-8899; or e-mailing it to parking@umn.edu. Please include the reason for special reciprocity, the days and times special parking is needed, and the building name of your destination. Every attempt is made to honor requests, but they are filled on a space available basis. Requests for special reciprocal permits must be renewed annually.
