The Twin Cities has one of the largest transit systems
in the country. There are more than 35 direct routes to serve campus
and thousands of other convenient bus stop locations. The Twin Cities'
transit system is comprised of six main bus lines, all listed at
the bottom of this page.
Busing makes it easy to travel without parking or rush hour hassles.
Bus-only freeway lanes and ramp meter bypasses make commutes even
faster.
If you've never been on a bus before, now is the time to learn
how to ride. Order your complete New Rider Packet today.
Call 1-800-NEW-RIDER or visit the online How to Ride Guide
at (http://www.metrotransit.org/newrider/index.asp).
Specific Route Information
- Route 2 provides direct service to the University between Marcy
Holmes and Cedar Riverside neighborhoods.
- Route 3 operates between downtown St. Paul and Minneapolis along
Como Ave., providing direct service to campus via 15th Avenue
SE.
- Route 6 provides direct service to the Minneapolis campus via
University Avenue from downtown Minneapolis.
- Routes 16 and Route 50 run between downtown Minneapolis and
St. Paul and provide direct service to campus via Washington Avenue
Even if you live in a part of the Twin Cities that doesn't have
direct bus service to the U, getting to campus is still easy: just
hop on a bus to downtown Minneapolis and transfer to a Route 50,
16, 6, or 3 which comes by every few minutes during the day. If
you don't have a bus stop near your home, consider the many Park
and Ride lots including Southdale and the lots on I-394.
