Directions to Campus

The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (UMTC) is one the largest urban campuses in the country, spanning five miles from east to west. Located in the heart of a busy metropolis, UMTC is sectioned into three campuses; East Bank, West Bank and St. Paul.

Drivers – Campus is within blocks of two major highway arteries – 35W (north/south) and I-94 (east/west) – so getting to the University is a snap.

East Bank, Minneapolis Campus
Northbound on 35W:
As you bypass downtown Minneapolis, follow 35W to U of M/3rd Street exit (17C). Stay in the far right lane that will merge onto Washington Avenue SE. Cross the bridge over the Mississippi River to East Bank.

Southbound on 35W:
Exit at University Avenue/4th Street (18). Turn left at the second set of lights onto University Avenue SE and head east a few blocks to campus.

East and westbound on I-94:
Exit at Huron Boulevard. Follow Huron Boulevard north to Washington Avenue and turn left for the southern end of campus. For the north side, continue on Huron Boulevard to 4th Street SE.

North and southbound on Highway 280:
Exit at University Avenue. Follow University Avenue west approximately ½ mile. Turn left at the Washington Avenue intersection for the southern end of campus. For the north side, continue on University Avenue to 4th Street SE.

West Bank, Minneapolis Campus
Northbound on 35W:
As you bypass downtown Minneapolis, continue on 35W to U of M/3rd Street exit (17C). Follow the West Bank sign to Washington Avenue S. Turn right. Washington Avenue S curves to the right and becomes Cedar Avenue. Campus is to your left.

Southbound on 35W:
Exit at Washington Avenue S and turn left at the light. Washington Avenue S curves to the right and becomes Cedar Avenue. Campus is on your left.

Eastbound on I-94:
Follow I-94 to 35W north to U of M/3rd Street exit (17C). Follow the West Bank sign to Washington Avenue S. Turn right. Washington Avenue S curves to the right and becomes Cedar Avenue. Campus is to your left.

Westbound on I-94:
Exit at Riverside Avenue. Turn right and follow Riverside for a few blocks. Campus is on your right.

St. Paul
Northbound on 35W:
Follow 35W to I-94. Continue on I-94 to Highway 280. Go north and exit on Larpenteur Avenue. Turn right on Larpenteur and right on Cleveland Avenue. Campus is on your left.

Southbound on 35W:
Exit at Cleveland Avenue. Head south on Cleveland to Larpenteur Avenue. Campus is straight ahead.

East and Westbound on I-94:
Follow I-94 to Highway 280. Go north and exit on Larpenteur Avenue. Turn right on Larpenteur and right on Cleveland Avenue. Campus is on your left.

Westbound on Highway 36:
Exit at Cleveland Avenue. Head south on Cleveland to Larpenteur Avenue. Campus is straight ahead.
